I will pick up from the point where I left – Is Hybrid a problem or an opportunity?
The takeaway for me – Hybrid IT will continue to be there for at-least next few years until we have standards, best practices and lessons learnt. For sure, managing Hybrid Eco-System is a challenge!
I am assuming that most business houses should have an IAM setup – it can be a solution from a leading provider or a home-grown system. Now the next challenge that I would like to point at is the complexity in the architecture of Hybrid setup when it connects to various Applications. IAM related integrations in Hybrid setup often ignore strategic elements and IT Setups are created without taking down complexity and associated costs.
Typically, IAM Solutions have limited functionality, various capabilities are to be added to the vanilla offering to enable IAM System to operate within existing IT Setup. It might come across as a one-time activity, but keeping track of what goes into numerous IT Security checkpoints makes it complex. The complexity has a direct impact on expenses that the organization has to bear. Leading applications to support businesses are hosted on cloud, the efforts that goes into maintaining smooth and efficient of IT Systems (Hybrid) also go up exponentially.
My thought is, while hybrid makes room for us to scale, I see the cost element involved in integrating applications with IAM setting often gets ignored.
